Dr. Mark Cassol is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract, refractive, and eyelid surgery. He has completed thousands of surgeries in each of these areas and has spoken locally and nationally. He also trained many residents and fellows. He won the Moran Teaching Award at the University of Louisville for the best teacher. He was elected to be the President of the Louisville Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a fellow of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He had been recognized by the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists.
Prior to pursuing his medical education, Dr. Cassol completed a Bachelor and Master Degree in Industrial Engineering. He was initiated into Alpha Pi Mu which is the Industrial Engineering Honor Society. He followed his wife to West Virginia University to complete medical school. He tested into the top 10% of all medical students. Dr. Cassol completed his internship and residency at the prestigious University of Louisville.
Dr. Cassol specializes in implanting and lectures on AcrySof IQ Toric, AcrySof IQ ReSTOR, TECNIS Multifocal lens, and TECNIS Symfony lens. He is a VISX and Bausch & Lomb certified refractive physician as well as proficient on the Hansatome Microkeratome and IntraLase Femtosecond Laser. Dr. Cassol has lived in Louisville since 2001 with his wife and three children.
