Cassol Eye has been offering Dropless Cataract Surgery since 2015! Before 2015, we required patients to instill a steroid and antibiotic throughout the day for many weeks to reduce the chance of infection and inflammation.
After the completion of cataract surgery, Vigamox and Kenalog are painlessly injected into the eye. The steroid and antibiotic filtrate down over the course of 4 to 6 weeks so your eye is continuously bathing in the steroid and antibiotic.
We Offer Dropless Surgery to:
1. ) Minimize the cost burden to the patient.
The topical drops were expensive, ranging from $50 to $350 depending on your prescription coverage. The cost of the dropless regime is incurred by the Surgecenter so you are not responsible for the cost of the drops.
2. ) Improve patience compliance and decrease the chance of injection by four times.
Luckily, now there is no need to ask family or friends to help you instill these multiple drops. You can continue normal adult activity the very next day, without eye drops.
Be mindful, the downside of the procedure is that less than 10% of patients will experience a whitish patch (the Kenalog) and/or a bloodshot eye (a subconjunctival hemorrhage). These side effects can last up to two weeks. However, no pain is involved and your vision is not affected.
